An Alabama native, Morgan W. W. Murphy has served at the highest levels of American government — in the White House, at the Pentagon, and in the United States Senate.

From February to October 2025, he served as head of public diplomacy for the President's Special Envoy to Russia and Ukraine. Before joining the second Trump administration, he was a senior fellow at the America First Policy Institute, where he helped craft the President's national security agenda.

From 2021 to 2023 he was national security advisor to U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), and during the first Trump administration he served as press secretary to the U.S. Secretary of Defense.

A captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve, Murphy has served on four continents. A veteran of the war in Afghanistan, his decorations include the Joint Meritorious Defense Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Medal.

He lives in Birmingham, Alabama with his son, Wells, and their dog, Chester.
